Crime, Immigration. Security
Crime, Immigration, Security.
These are highly important issues that the politicians of today avoid and have nothing to offer.
Crime. Crime is an ongoing cancer in our society. prison costs are rising and law enforcement is not well equipped. Courts are obliged to follow the rule of law and the constant flow of criminal offender traffic comes in faster than it can be resolved. Rehabilitation is not working, early release is being opposed and the drug trade is a business without restrictions. Outsourcing has become commercial and the public is being shortchanged. Yet federal, state and local politicians have no plans, no ideas and no zeal to do something about it but sweep it under the carpet. The federal marshalls calmed the wild west and the federal agents have all the power in the world to act if they get the word to go.
Immigration. This is strictly a federal law and is not being enforced. Immigrants from Europe are under deeper scrutiny than those from Mexico who cross the border every day without having to give their ID. States are passing laws in dispare to do something but have no support from the feds. The federal immigration laws are weak and do not permit quick action. Court are forbidden to inquire about immigrant status and police are powerless to do anything except give a traffic ticket. The politicians are in fear of losing votes and employers have no regulations to control their hiring of immigrant workers.
Security. Since 9/11 and shortly thereafter there are no boots on our local ground to protect us and defend us from an attack within our homeland. I thought Homeland Security was for the homeland and yet i see no soldiers, sailors, marines, coast guard or national guard at our airport, our port, our public attractions or our public buildings. maybe they are all in other countries fighting for our freedom but they are certainly not here. airport security is civilian in nature and some duties are covered by law enforcement as if they don't have enough to do. Compulsory military training is a no no and civilians have no clue what to do when and if we are attacked from within. We have forgotten all the lessons learned from World War II.
