Located in the heart of Elm Grove, St. Mary’s Visitation School provides exceptional academics and faith formation for grades K3 through 8.
Welcome to the new school year! We are so proud to welcome 301 students to our school this year. We have 65 new students and we are so happy with our increasing enrollment. This is a testament to the success of our school and the pride we take in our academics and faith.
Students started school this week to find newly painted walls of bright colors! In addition to the painting, new blinds have been ordered for 8 classrooms. New lunch tables will be coming soon for our cafeteria. Our Afterschool Care room / K3 classroom has undergone a complete makeover. SMV will be ordering new risers for our stage to use for Christmas and Spring concerts. All of these new items were purchased through the generosity of our Home and School Association!
Welcome to all of our new families, including our K3 and K4 students.
Father Peter Berger
Welcome Fr. Peter Berger! Here is Fr. Peter's own introduction prior to his arrival in July, 2012:
I was born on June 20, 1978 in Janesville, Wisconsin. Shortly after I was born my family moved to Wauwatosa. We lived just a few blocks away from St. Mary’s Elm Grove and were members there until I was five years old when we moved to a different part of Wauwatosa and joined St. Jude Parish where my family continues to be members. Both of my parents are living and I have two younger sisters, one who is finishing up her teaching certification with plans to teach in a Catholic school and my other sister who teaches Second Grade at Mother of Good Counsel Catholic School in Milwaukee.
I graduated from St. Jude Grade School in 1992 and then went to Wauwatosa East High School (Class of 1996) and entered the Saint Francis Seminary College Program upon graduation from high school and at the same time completed my undergraduate studies at Marquette University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in theology and philosophy in 2000. Following graduation I entered Saint Francis de Sales Seminary where I received my formation for the priesthood.
I was ordained a priest on May 21, 2005 and was assigned as Associate Pastor at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon. I spent five years there as Associate Pastor and had a wonderful experience. In 2010 I was assigned as part-time Chaplain at Pius XI High School and part-time Associate Vocations Director before becoming full-time Vocation Director in May of 2011 and will complete my assignment in the Vocations Office in late June before beginning at St. Mary’s.
One of the things I realized during my time in the Vocations Office was how much I truly missed parish ministry. I enjoy being a part of a parish community and being a part of people’s lives in the ways a parish priest is called to be. I am thrilled to be assigned to St. Mary’s and I am truly looking forward to getting there and to begin to get to know people and to once again be a part of a parish community. I know how patiently and prayerfully the people of St. Mary’s have waited for a full-time priest to be assigned and that seems to me to be a testament to the prayerfulness and faithfulness of the people of St. Mary’s and their confidence in God and the leadership provided by Deacon Piontek and the staff during this time of waiting.
