St. Mary's Visitation to Receive Grant for Robotics Program
St. Mary's Visitation School has just received notification that we have been selected to receive a NASA Explorer School Honor grant of $5,000.
St. Mary's Visitation School has been an active participant in the NASA Explorer School since 2010. NASA Explorer Schools invests in educators to inspire and engage future scientists, engineers and technicians that NASA needs to continue the journey. They are committed to recognizing innovative use of NASA educational content in schools where the collaborative efforts of multiple NES teachers have impacted the school. The NES Honor Award identifies our school as a leader in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. In addition to the award, SMV will receive a $5,000 grant to be used to further the study of robotics. Funds from NES will be used to purchase five additional Lego Mindstorm kits, accessories and storage containers. They will also be used to purchase an interactive whiteboard presentation unit for the middle school Science Lab, which will allow us to better present the materials and information for the course. Many thanks to Mrs. Biernat and Mrs. Muthupandiyan for working on this.
Eighth Graders working with our current robotics program that will be enhanced with our robotics grant.
