The Elm Grove Public Library, established and supported by the citizens of Elm Grove, provides access to library facilities, resources, and services necessary to meet the informational, educational, and leisure needs of all the people in the community. It assembles, preserves, and administers an organized collection of print and non-print materials to fill those needs. It places special emphasis on stimulating interest and life-long appreciation for reading and learning among children and adults alike
Money Smart Week 2014 kicks off on April 5, and we’re launching into it with a free matinee of “Margin Call” at the Elm Grove Library this Saturday, April 5 at 1:00pm.
Now in its 12th year, Money Smart Week, which was created in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. The campaign aims to provide programs and information to consumers in the hope of increasing financial literacy. This year’s Money Smart Week will be taking place the week of April 5-12 in more than a dozen states, including Wisconsin, and it includes national partnerships with the American Library Association and the Financial Planners Association.
As a proud partner of Money Smart Week, the Elm Grove Library will have educational tips and materials available all week for those looking to gain a better understanding of personal finance. The library also has a wealth of books available for check out on personal finance and successfully managing your money.
In addition, the library will be celebrating Money Smart Week by screening a free matinee of the Academy Award nominated film “Margin Call” on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00pm in the lower level of the library. Set in the high-stakes world of the financial industry, “Margin Call” involves the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. The film stars Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons, and is based on true events. Feel free to bring your own snacks and refreshments, and we’ll see you at the library!
