Red Noses and Legwarmers

It’s not a game, it’s an event!  You don’t mix stripes and polka dots, oil and water, orange juice and toothpaste, Central and East.  When it comes to football, Brookfield Central and Brookfield East are complete rivals.  The game is just the beginning.

Ordered chaos.  It was ordered chaos.  Going to the game in theme-wear is a must. It’s a way to show fanatical school spirit, and the crazier the crowd the better. At the biggest game, next to homecoming, the seniors dressed up as clowns. Well, it was more like the guys dressed as clowns. Let’s just say that the girls weren’t as excited with the idea.  So, we chose to wear ’80s workout clothes with baggy sweatshirts, neon headbands and all.

While seniors dressed in theme, the other grades wore all white (or called a whiteout).  The seniors clumsily led the underclassman through cheers, booing and crowd waves.  With half the stands full of screaming students (and the other half full of parents), somehow everyone was doing what the seniors wanted.

Because of the Joker wannabes and neon fishnets, I’m pretty sure we got East’s attention.  And if not, I think beating them 41 to 7 did the trick.
