The basics: Your guide to getting around

It doesn't matter whether you just moved into Elm Grove or whether you're a lifetime resident, here's your guide to just about everything you need to know about living in the village.

How do I change the address on my driver's license?

You can do this over the phone, through the mail or in person at the nearest state Department of Motor Vehicle location. The nearest DMV office is located at 400 S. West Ave. in Waukesha. If you'd rather do it via the mail or phone, you can get the details at the DMV's Web site.

How do I change my address with the Postal Service?

You can do this in person at the nearest post office, 13425 Watertown Plank Road in Elm Grove, or you can do it online at the Postal Service's Web site.

How do I register children for school?

To begin the enrollment process in the Elmbrook School District, the student's parent/guardian must first go to the nearest school and have their address verified through either a driver's license or a piece of mail such as a utility bill to ensure the student is enrolling at the correct school. Once it is verified, the parent/guardian is invited for a tour of the school, which the student can also attend. Following the tour, enrollment forms are filled out and a start date is chosen. When is the trash picked up?

The Village contracts with Veolia Environmental Services for trash pickup. Trash is collected on a weekly basis and should be put outside of your garage. Special pickup of large items can also be arranged through Veolia Environmental Services; please call for instructions and costs. What are the Village's parking rules?

No person shall park any vehicle upon Village property or on any public right-of-way, street or highway within the Village for a period of more than 10 consecutive hours, except when permission is granted by the Village of Elm Grove Police Department. No person shall park any vehicle on any public right-of-way, street or highway within the Village between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., except when permission is granted by the Village of Elm Grove Police Department.

Village Hall is located at 13600 Juneau Blvd., Elm Grove. It's open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Who are my local elected officials? How can I reach them?

Elm Grove is governed under a President/Village Board format. The board is comprised of seven volunteers elected to serve two-year terms. One trustee serves as the Village President and all trustees either chair or are members of the various committees. The current president is Neil Palmer. You can register at the Village Clerk's office at Village Hall, 13600 Juneau Blvd. In addition, you may register at the polling place on the day of the election, provided you have proper identification.
