Kiwanis Club tackles current issues this month

The Kiwanis Club of Elm Grove meets at 9:30 a.m. Fridays at St. Mary's Senior Center, 13150 Juneau Blvd.

Speakers for April:

• April 16: "Retrospective on Highway Design in Metro Milwaukee," Harvey Shebesta, retired director of the Department of Transportation

• April 23: "Comprehensive Land Use Planning," Richard Mace, manager of planning and zoning for Waukesha

• April 30: "Restorative Justice," Justice Janine Geske, professor of law

Town Bank offers free coin appraisals

Town Bank, 13150 Watertown Plank Road, will have a professional coin appraiser available at the bank from 1 to 4 p.m. April 23.

Any resident can bring their coins to the bank and have them appraised free of charge.

Each consultation will be limited to 15 minutes.

Notre Dame Recorder Consort to perform at convent

The Notre Dame Recorder Consort will present "Chants, Dances and Bugs" from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Notre Dame of Elm Grove, 13105 Watertown Plank Road.

The performance will open with an ancient alleluia chant, first in unison, followed by early harmonic settings.

The program is free and open to the public.

LaVita Laser to take part in beauty event

LaVita Laser, 13545 Watertown Plank Road, will present a live Botox demonstration during the Spring Fashion & Beauty Event at the Iron Horse Hotel, 500 W. Florida St. in Milwaukee, from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The event also includes a skinny bar featuring figure-friendly cocktails, makeup touch-ups from Blush Beauty, paraffin hand treatments from Destinations, mini-boutiques and entertainment.

The event is free but exclusive group VIP seating in the lobby is available for $50 per person, which includes a swag bag and a bottle of champagne per table.

Proceeds from VIP seating and 10 percent of all sales from the evening will be donated to the Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee.

Consignment sale returns to women's club

Divine Consign will host a consignment sale April 22 to 24 at the Elm Grove Women's Club, 13885 Watertown Plank Road.

The consignment sale for women features brand-name clothing and accessories in sizes from petite to plus, including maternity. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 22, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 23 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 24.

The sale provides charitable donations to the YWCA's Transitional Housing Program for Women, Hebron House of Hospitality and Bottomless Closet. For information, visit

School Sisters host Earth Day celebration

The community is invited to celebrate Earth Day with the School Sisters of Notre Dame from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at 13105 Watertown Plank Road. The free educational event is open to the public, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free sapling. Festivities will include presentations, demonstrations, interactive displays, contests, free Fair Trade coffee and chocolate food samples, door prizes and more.

Square dance raises money for Waukesha Food Pantry

Community United Methodist Church of Elm Grove will sponsor The Square Dance for Duffers at 7 to 9 p.m. April 23 in its fellowship hall, 14700 Watertown Plank Road.

All proceeds will benefit the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.

People 13 or older who have seldom or never square danced are invited. Singles are encouraged, and child care will be provided. The cost is $7.
