Thomas Ortell of Brookfield earned his master's degree in career and technical education, and Joshua Schmidt of Brookfield earned his bachelor's degree in engineering echnology, from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in May.

Hannah Schlei of Brookfield earned her bachelor's degree in apparel merchandising, design and production from Iowa State University in Ames in May.

Anna Butzlaff of Brookfield earned her bachelor's degree magna cum laude in communications from the University of Memphis in Tennessee in May.

Angel Cha of Brookfield earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in January.

The following graduates earned bachelor's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in May: from Brookfield, Catherine Donze, biology, Kathryn Lisko, wildlife ecology-research and management, Callista Marek, elementary/special education magna, cum laude, Jason Mayer, biology, cum laude, and Joshua Wied, biology and fisheries and water resources, cum laude; and from Elm Grove, Grace Clark, English, Molly Kresl, communication, cum laude, and Maggie Rolandi, resource management-environmental education/interpretation, cum laude.

The following students made the spring semester dean's list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.: from Brookfield, Lauren Dickson, Marie Dreyer, Amanda Harris, Annemarie Hengel, Alexander Johnson and Kelsey Schmidt; and from Elm Grove, Madeline Zukowski.

Danielle Osland of Brookfield made the spring semester dean's list at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Kassandra Simon of Brookfield made the spring semester chancellor's list at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

Angela Felber and Matthew Dykehouse of Brookfield made the spring semester dean's list, and David Mantey and Samuel Miller of Brookfield made the honors list, at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

John Peterson of Brookfield made the spring semester dean's list at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

Chanelle Johnson, Hannah Schlei and Paul Uhing made the spring semester dean's list at Iowa State University in Ames.

The following students from Brookfield made the spring semester dean's list at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha: Emily Bennett, Gabriella Ortiz, Kelly Redmond, Ahmad Masalha, Emily Holt, Sophia Miranda, Joseph Matthews, Nathan Cobb, Jennifer McClain, Jamie Rich and Shariq Moore.

Kathryn Pritchard of Elm Grove earned the Stanley Harrington Art Award for her promise in the art field and made the spring semester dean's list at Hope College in Holland, Mich.

SCHOOLSCENE

Nicole Bray of Elm Grove, Brookfield Academy graduate, earned a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship award for her performance on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

SERVICENEWS

Air National Guard Airman Joseph D. Stirn graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, with distinction as an honor graduate. Stirn, the son of Diane Wood of Brookfield and Mark Stirn of Pewaukee, is a 2005 graduate of Brookfield East High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2009 from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
