Student cell phone ban lifted
Elmbrook School District students may now carry cell phones at school, as long as the devices are kept turned off and out of sight during the instructional day.
High schools targeted for $700K in upgrades
Elmbrook officials are considering making $700,000 worth of improvements to the high schools, including leveling the band room floor and replacing the auxiliary gym floor at Central, and adding sound systems to the choir, band and weight rooms at both schools.

The Elmbrook School District faces a projected $15.64 million budget shortfall by the 2014-15 school year, unless spending can be cut or revenues raised by an average of $3.22 million each year.

Ex-priest convicted of sexually assaulting boys
A former member of the Brothers of the Holy Cross religious order who later became a Catholic priest pleaded guilty Friday and was convicted of sexually assaulting two boys in the Elm Grove area, one in the late 1970s and the other in the early 1980s.
UPS to close Elm Grove office, but sorting, shipping operations will stay
A UPS Inc. office in Elm Grove is closing as a result of a restructuring at the Atlanta-based company. The closing of the UPS district office in Elm Grove will impact 40 to 60 workers, said spokeswoman Lisa Hamilton.
Professors save teens the trip
Brookfield Central's agreement with the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha continuing education department brought advanced mathematics to the high school this year as part of the state's youth options program.
