"All Shook Up," an all-Elvis 1950s musical, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 as well as 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3.
Sophomores attended a "No Texting While Driving" assembly presentation on Oct. 25 in the auxiliary gym presented by AT&T, AAA, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto and state Rep. Dale Kooyenga.
On Oct. 24, fourth-graders enjoyed a pizza party as a reward for winning the school's Scholastic "All for Books" Change Wars during book fair week. The class raised over $250 to help buy books for our school and for Cross Trainers Academy at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. All of the classes raised nearly $1,000 this year.
The Spartan Band held its Fall Spooktacular Concert on Oct. 22 in the BEHS Field House. Trick or Treat, games, crafts, face painting, and more spooky festivities were part of the program.
The school's Bobcats raised over $625 for breast cancer research. Thanks to all who supported those who have battles and those battling breast cancer by buying and wearing a pink bandanna on Oct. 19!
Fifth-graders just completed a stay at Camp Minikani integrating their science, social studies, language and writing curriculum in a three-day, two-night outdoor experience.
Tierney Brothers, Inc., a privately owned interactive technology company, announced the opening of a new Technology & Training Center at Dixon. The center will be used for demonstrations and training on cutting edge technology designed to inspire and improve performance. The center, which is located inside of an existing classroom, will be used both during and outside of normal school hours.
Elm Grove Evangelical Lutheran
The third-grade class will travel on Oct. 29 to the new Target on Bluemound Road for a one-hour behind-the-scenes tour. They will learn about how businesses work, profits, employers and employees and budgets as part of the social studies curriculum.
Pilgrim Park Middle School
The school partnered with Youth Frontiers to hold a special Courage Retreat on Oct. 18 and 19 for seventh-grade classes. The retreat was designed to help build a more respectful school culture to help combat bullying. Youth Frontiers describes itself as the leading character education organization in the Upper Midwest. It aims to instill the values of kindness, courage, respect and integrity into personal and school lives.
The Student Council sponsored a Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive from Oct. 15 to 24. All proceeds will stay in Eastern Wisconsin through Feeding America.
The Home & School Association sponsored the Kohl's WILD Theater program for grades K3 through four on Oct. 23. This was a fun-filled theatrical performance with a message promoting conservation.
St. John Vianney
Teachers recently enjoyed dishes including homemade chicken or vegetarian potpie and caramel apple pie at the quarterly teacher's luncheon hosted by parents.
St. Mary's Visitation
The school was honored with an Exemplary Status award at the Milwaukee Archdiocesan Educators' Convention on Oct. 12. SMV received the honor for its innovation and outstanding results in the area of information, technology and media skills. The ceremony was held at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.
St. Mary's also was cited for excellence in its mission to use technology as a tool for student learning and for its professional development and support for teachers. Additionally, the report commended the school for "the ongoing collaboration between parish, faculty, parents, students and outside experts as not only best practice, but a sign of the commitment to forming students both academically and ethically in a 21st century world."
Congratulations to the eighth-grade boys and girls volleyball teams, which have both been invited to participate in the prestigious Milwaukee Archdiocesan Seton Tournament. Tournament play begins Oct. 29 at Center Court in Waukesha.
The scouts from Den 5 planted two trees next to the picnic tables where they can grow tall and provide shade for students in the future. Many thanks to the boys and their scout leaders as well as to Johnson Nursery and Trees for Less for donating the trees.
The PTO sponsored a skating party on Oct. 25 at Skateland in Waukesha.
In appreciation of bus drivers who make sure students arrive at school and home safe and sound, the PTO this week gave each of them a gift package of baked goodies. Also, students wrote each of their drivers a thank-you letter, which were bound and included with the gift packages.
Wisconsin Hills Middle School
It is with great pleasure to announce that 87 WHMS students were recently inducted to the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). These students are recognized their academic standing as well as in the five pillars of the organization: character, citizenship, leadership, scholarship and service. The application process is rigorous and service hours are a requirement. NJHS recognizes the dedication and commitment to school that these young men and women display. Congratulations to the 54 newly inducted members and the 33 returning inductees. Each of you is wished much success through the years!
