Ex-Brookfield financial adviser charged with possessing child porn
Man told police he was no longer stimulated by adult material
A 52-year-old Waukesha man faces 115 years in prison after being charged with several felony counts of possessing child pornography July 29 in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
According to the criminal complaint, Waukesha City Police detectives conducted an undercover internet investigation into child pornography and linked an IP address to Scott A. Chier, with numerous photos of prepubescent children, some of whom were being molested and others fully unclothed.
On July 25, a search warrant was executed at Chier's Waukesha home and detectives seized a computer and found more images. According to the complaint, Chier admitted to downloading the images, telling officers he was addicted to it, and that he was "no longer stimulated by adult pornography." Chier told officers he had been searching for teens and girls between the ages of 15 and 17 years old, and he had viewed a directory of files with images of "younger girls in the toddler age."
Chier told detectives he had a cycle: download files, delete them and download more. He said the four images detectives found during the search were his, but that he used hard drive wiping software the week prior to delete others.
Until recently, Chier was listed online as an adviser of Chier, Kreske & Associates, a Brookfield practice associated with Ameriprise Financial Services. His name has since been removed from the website, but cache views of the website show that he was listed as an employee. During a phone call to Ameriprise Financial Services Monday, a representative said Chier was no longer employed with the company, but would not give the date of his termination.
According to Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, Chier's wife filed for divorce Aug. 2.
He is expected to appear in court Thursday.
