New art gallery opens in Elm Grove
The River's End Gallery will open a second location in Elm Grove on Sept. 4 at Village Court, 890 Elm Grove Road.
The gallery will feature studio glass, art jewelry, original paintings, sculpture and crystalline porcelain ceramics. The gallery carries a variety of works and features more than 150 artists. Although many of the artists are from Wisconsin, the gallery also features artists from around the United States. Its first location is located in historic Downtown Waukesha at 380 W. Main St.
Waukesha County to host annual conference
The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County will hold its annual Family Caregiver Conference on Sept. 6 in Pewaukee.
This year's theme is "Empowering Caregivers Through the Seasons of Change," and the conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. at Waukesha County Technical College Richard T. Anderson Education Center, 800 Main St. in Pewaukee.
The conference will provide information and support to family caregivers and other adults who assume the role of assisting their spouses, aging parents, friends and neighbors. Experts from community-based organizations will provide resources, information and discussion about services to those who provide care to older adults. Conference registrants can choose to attend three sessions facilitated by local experts.
Keynote speaker Lynda Markut, education & family support coordinator for the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, will present "How Caregivers Cope – It Wasn't Supposed to be this Way." With over 28 years of family caregiving experience and providing 30-plus years of professional dementia care training, Markut will take you on a journey through challenges, change, and the compassion of caregiving.
