Brookfield company gets defense contract

Solution Dynamics, an equipment distributor based in Brookfield, recently secured a multi-million dollar defense contract with the federal government to provide it with Big Joe lift trucks, manufactured in Wisconsin Dells.

Under the contract, the government plans to spend a minimum of $633 million over five years on products from Solution Dynamics and about eight other companies that are also under the contract, according to Jackie Payne, vice president of government sales for the company.

Solution Dynamics has been working with the government for six years, but this contract has the largest dollar potential it's ever seen. It will bid against the other companies under the contract for each individual job the government requests through the contract.

Take unwanted electronics for recycling

Waukesha County is encouraging residents to recycle old electronics at local drop-off spots for free, rather than throw them away. Many contain hazardous materials and some contain precious metals that can be reused.

There are two locations in Brookfield that collect old electronics at no charge: Best Buy, 19555 W. Bluemound Road, and Goodwill, 17295 W. Capitol Drive.
