Board declines both Juneau study proposals
The Juneau Boulevard pedestrian/bicycle path debate has returned to the Public Safety Committee after the Board of Trustees' recommendation Tuesday.
The Village Board did not accept either study proposal that would have examined options for Juneau Boulevard, mainly because of a lack of funding for the project. The two bids came in at about $48,000 and $77,000.
Trustee Jan Schoenecker also said the proposals were repetitive as they would gather some information the village already had from past studies.
The board recommended sending the issue back to the Public Safety Committee to create study groups to explore the existing data the village has from previous studies. The committee would then determine what other information is potentially needed to make a decision on the pathway and then potentially place a bid for that information to be gathered.
Village President Neil Palmer said the village will continue to look at this issue. He also recommended the committee let the village know of any potential expenditures for 2010 related to the study by September for inclusion in the next budget process.
