County exec honors excellence
Waukesha County Executive Daniel P. Vrakas presented awards to Waukesha County organizations that display excellence during the 14th County Executive's Award Luncheon. See photos from this event.
The Business of the Year award went to Generac Power Systems, and The Schroeder Group S.C. received an honorable mention.
The Salvation Army was named the Large Nonprofit of the Year, and the Lake Area Free Clinic received the Small Nonprofit of the Year award. The Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha received honorable mention for Small Nonprofit of the Year.
The keynote speaker was Mark Green, director of Malaria No More, a Washington, D.C., policy center focused on eliminating malaria worldwide. Green is a former congressman representing Wisconsin's 8th District.
A cross-section of people from the county attended, including representatives of business, industry and government. Some of them included Carmen de La Paz and Anselmo Villarreal from La Casa de Esperanza, Bernie Juno and Kathy Mayer from Hebron House, Greg Bauer and Terri Mudek from M&I Bank, Chellee Siewert and Amanda Seidel from the Metropolitan Builders Association, Ed Olson and Gary Buerstatte from ProHealth Care, Mike Campbell and Joe Eberle from Ruekert & Mielke, and Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson, who made a fashion statement with an aqua polo shirt under a sport coat and matching aqua Crocs.
