Lawns, walls look better after day of service
More than 40 members of Community United Methodist Church participated in a community service day Nov. 7.
The group, mainly adults with a few teens and children, performed a variety of tasks, Sergio Mota said.
Volunteers raked leaves and did other yard work at six Wauwatosa homes where seniors and others were unable to do so.
Another group painted walls at the Transitional Living Center at United Methodist Children's Services in Milwaukee, while others sorted food and stocked the shelves at the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.
Other volunteers created greeting cards for the Interfaith Senior Programs.
And all of these tasks were completed between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., before the group reconvened at the church for lunch.
"We want to have a bigger presence in the community," Mota said, adding that the service day helps to connect people.
