Brookfield East tennis coach Linda Lied should once again have a good team, and so far the Spartans are off to a good start.
Senior Bridget Noack, a four-year player and a two-year captain, will play No. 1 singles. She has been a state qualifier the past two seasons.
Junior Brigitte Potter, a three-year player, is No. 2 singles, moved up from No. 3 singles last year. She has worked on her game in the offseason and is showing great promise.
Senior Analeise Schwiesow, a four-year player and a team captain, will play No. 3 singles. She was a state qualifier last year and is expected to switch between No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
Senior Amanda Ehrhart, a two-year player, is off to a good start at No. 4 singles.
Senior Sophie Carr and junior Simone Hussussian will play first doubles. A three-year player, Carr is back after taking a year off. As a sophomore, she went to individual state in doubles. Hussussian, in her third year, played doubles and was a state qualifier last season.
Senior Erica Engstrand is a captain in her fourth year and played three doubles last season. Her game is strong for doubles and Lied looks for her to lead the second doubles team.
Junior Jessica Huang, also in her third year is at second doubles, after playing four and fifth singles last year. She has worked on her doubles game and Lied hopes she can make a smooth transition into that spot.
Senior Hayley Powers, who is in her fourth season and a captain, teamed up with Engstrand last season at third doubles and Lied is expecting her to lead as she is pairing up with a newcomer to the varsity, junior Kirstey Lein.
Lein played on the junior varsity Red team last season, and Lied is hoping she can use her athleticism and drive to establish herself as a solid doubles player.
Senior Katie Haeberle will fill in the doubles, senior Ami Arnold will do the same at singles and junior Caitlin Behling will team up with Haeberle to play the fifth doubles spot.
