Bulldogs bomb Oconomowoc, 15-7

The Brookfield Bulldogs baseball team hammered Oconomowoc, 15-7, on Sunday and took over undisputed first place in the Western Division of the Land O' Lakes.

The Bulldogs came out swinging at Oconomowoc and hammered the Five O's pitching for 21 hits, jumping on Oconomowoc starter Luke Nelson for nine runs in five innings and adding another six runs in four innings off reliever Mike Bolson.

"I told our guys before the game to stay loose, play their game and just have fun," Bulldogs manager Jason Booth said. "We've certainly been in big games like this in the past few years, and it was evident our team was ready for the challenge."

Ernest Castro led the hit parade, going 4-for-6 with a double, a walk and three RBIs and three other Bulldogs finished with three-hit games.

Brett Summers was 3-for-5 with a walk and two RBIs. Kris Franzen was 3-for-6 with a double, a walk and an RBI and Brandon Reddinger went 3-for-6 with an RBI.

Jason Rutz played with nine stitches on his throwing hand and finished with a hit, a hit by pitch and two runs scored.

Brookfield will now host Pewaukee at McCoy Field on Saturday and then travel to Menomonee Falls on Sunday. Both games begin at 1 p.m.
