The Kindo Integrated Health Center has kicked off its Intentional Eating Program, an integrated
system to help patients lose weight and achieve optimal health.
“Our Intentional Eating Program can enhance the function of the hypothalamus, the portion of the
brain that controls body temperature, hunger, thirst, and fatigue. Our program will do so by normalizing
metabolism, reducing physical hunger, eliminating emotional eating and food cravings, and stopping the
abnormal storing of fat,” says Dr. Arthur Rapkin, director of the Kindo Integrated Health Center, 890
Elm Grove Rd., Elm Grove.
”The program can reshape the body and achieve weight loss. We can achieve these through a
combination of acupuncture treatments, the ingestion of a protein called HCG (Human Chorionic
Gonadotrophin), and coaching.”
According to Dr. Rapkin, HCG is a naturally occurring peptide that safely and effectively resets the
hypothalamus, which can be adversely affected by the chemicals in food and environmental stress.
“When these attack our hypothalamus, obesity and rapid weight gain can occur. It’s the hypothalamus
that controls digestion, sleep, food intake and energy and metabolism,” he says. “It also controls fat
accumulations and deposits as well as endocrine functions and the sex drive.”
Dr. Rapkin explains that acupuncture is used to stimulate parts of the brain that activate the
hypothalamus and the body’s principal survival systems, i.e. the nervous, endocrine, immune, and
cardiovascular systems. “Acupuncture promotes normal and physiological activities in the whole body,”
he says.
To reinforce Kindo’s Intentional Eating Program, Dr. Rapkin offers support and coaching. “Our
coaching involves group meetings that allow participants to meet with other individuals who have had
success with the program and others who are just beginning the program. We provide useful
information on how to eat intentionally and wisely.”
