Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council Recognizes Four Industry Advocates

Dec. 16, 2011

The Milwaukee Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), celebrating 50 years as the area’s leading home improvement and remodeling industry resource, recently announced the recipients of its annual President’s Awards.

Created to recognize members of the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc who’ve demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community, education, and support of the association’s goals, the President’s Awards are presented annually at the association’s holiday party.

Association President Diane Krueger, CR, presented the awards to four Milwaukee/NARI members in recognition of their efforts on the association’s behalf. “Milwaukee/NARI instituted the President’s Awards as a way for the association president to extend formal recognition and a ‘thank you’ to members for their contributions,” Krueger said. “The individuals recognized represent the spirit of cooperation within the association that strives to provide consumers with the needed information to complete a home improvement or remodeling project in a quality manner.”

The 2011 Milwaukee/NARI President’s Award recipients, with Krueger’s remarks included, were as follows:

Kevin Anundson CR, CKBR, The OAR Group, Elm Grove, Wis.: “This Award goes to a gentleman who has been my colleague for over 10 years. Over the last three years, I have had the opportunity to work more closely with him on issues that affect both the local and National association. His dedication to education never ceases to amaze me and his visionary thinking at times has been out of this world. Currently, he will be leaving his mark on the association by being instrumental in getting the National Certified Remodeler program accredited through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), a tremendous feat as our association will be the only trade association with this type of program. He has served on the Ethics, Finance, Marketing, Personnel, and Wisconsin Remodeler of the Year Award committees. His is also liaison to both Show committees. In addition, he has been involved in both Strategic Plans, headed the Vision 20/20 task force, and has been a member of both the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.”

Tom Hagner, Better Building by Weather Seal Ltd., Racine, Wis.: “This award goes to a man, who during our board meetings, helped me keep our motions on the floor and off the table. He has been a source of information, guidance, and support during my time as President. He was one of the people who helped to mentor me so I could become the association representative that I am today. He taught me humility through his own experiences and how to handle oneself with dignity and grace. But most importantly, he showed me it’s important to have fun. Running this association is hard work and as such, laughter is a definite necessity and should be done whenever possible. He continues to show his dedication to this association by continuing to serve as chairperson for both the Insurance and Building committees and has been involved in the formulation of our new Strategic Plan. He is someone I am honored to call friend.”

Tom Kammerait, CPA, von Briesen & Roeper, s.c., Milwaukee, Wis.: “This award goes to a gentleman who has been instrumental in maintaining my sanity while navigating some difficult legal waters. He has always been gracious in answering our legal questions, as well as offering opinions on how we can make the best choices for our association. This gentleman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our Board of Directors, as well as being actively involved in the continued accuracy and relevance of our by-laws and code of ethics. He has been gracious to accept our appointment as a Member -At-Large on our Executive Committee, where we constantly seek his advice, which he kindly provides.”

Tony Rink, CR, Renovators Ltd., Elm Grove, Wis.: “This award is presented to a gentleman who has been a voice of reason for me over these last two years. When others were afraid to ask questions or just went along with the status quo, this person wasn’t afraid to challenge the norm and ask ‘why are we are doing this?’ No matter how difficult or unpopular his opinion, he wasn’t afraid to share it for the association’s betterment. I believe his involvement on a local and national level has been one reason for the success of the organization. His expertise on the Ethics and Finance committees continues to be invaluable. This person has been very involved in the Strategic Plan for Milwaukee NARI as well as being an active Board member and Executive Committee representative. He has also been involved with the Vision 2020 task force.”

The Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council was chartered in July 1961, as a Chapter of the National Home Improvement Council. In May of 1982, the National Home Improvement Council merged with the National Remodelers Association to form NARI - the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. With over 800 members, the Milwaukee Chapter is the largest in the nation. The Council’s goals of encouraging ethical conduct, sound business practices, and professionalism in the remodeling industry have led to the growth of the remodeling industry nationwide and made NARI a recognized authority in that industry.
